GRITS

So I keep talking about starting a blog and I'm finally doing it! Woohoo!
So..GRITS...to those of us in the south it means a few different things.
1. GRITS: Girls Raised In The South (as I was). This slogan can be seen on tshirts, bumper stickers, hats, cookbooks, etc.
2. Grits...a breakfast staple in the south. Grits are one of my favorite breakfast foods EVER. When I was growing up my Granny would always make me grits for breakfast when my family was visiting her. She would make REAL grits...none of the fake cafeteria stuff. As a result of her TLC when it came to grits I am very picky. However, I just discovered that the cafeteria at work has excellent grits. This was a very exciting revelation especially since I was getting very tired of rotating between a bagel and an english muffin for breakfast on Sundays (as a general rule Sunday is the only day I eat breakfast at work). Most places you order grits from make thin, watered down crap...not work...they have thick, creamy grits...YUMM! Who would have thought that the place that has the powdered eggs (a staple at any hospital I think) would also have wonderful grits?
